. . . though not in the Seinfeld's Elaine sense of the word. We took Micah to his one week follow up and he's doing well, I got to remove the steri-strips (do we get a discount for that?) and Dr. Choe said that Micah was one of few children who have all three merocel sponges in place in the ear canal eight days after surgery. So we did good!
We can also take off the Tegederm film from the skin graft donor site tonight. (Good thing, it's usually only used for one week and four 4"x4" pieces of Tegederm are $14.99 at CVS.) It will be dressed with Bacitracin and a little hydrocortisone if it is itchy or it seems like a keloid scar is developing.
The merocel sponges stay in for another week and now we have to put Ofloxacin otic drops in the new ear canal morning and evening. I took a picture of Micah's new canal today while we were waiting at the ENT's office. And we make the drive up the NJ Turnpike one more time next Wednesday.
So all is well in the world of the after-market ear canal. Six more days until Micah's school starts, one more week until Thea starts first grade.
